Steller sealions
Sealions are a common sight all over Prince William Sound and around the Copper River. Though their numbers have declined for unknown reasons in the Aleutians and Bering Sea, they are plentiful indeed near Cordova, where they often haul out on navigation buoys to nap.
Adult male Steller sealions can weigh a ton. They are highly intelligent but, unlike their timid cousins the seals, they are quite surly and disagreeable. They are interesting, but "cute" is not a word that describes them.
