The Great Depression of the 1930's succeeded in turning upside down the lives of ordinary people in a way not seen before or since. It shaped a nation's pyyche and indelibly marked the lives of everyone who lived through it. It began with a devastating stock market crash which let to massive human suffering, social upheaval, and political change that changed the outline of American life and government. New and far-reaching programs were created; Social Security, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Natinal Recovery Act..on and on, new ideas, new programs.

And through it all the people sang. They made up songs about what they saw, where they had been, what had happened and what they hoped for. Now Carl Allen has developed a program to try to tell the story of the Great Depression in song and anecdotes, eventually relying on the audience to tell their stories. This is a one hour program developed and presented by Carl.
