The day I lost my beloved dog, Opti,
the colors of the world disappeared.
No matter how much I cried,
the grief would not fade.
I even forgot how to breathe.
And yet-
that loss gently led me
on a journey to continue living with love.
This book is a soul-based memoir,
inspired by the true story of a Japanese woman,
exploring pet loss, grief, rebirth, love, and freedom.
Even after losing someone precious,
love does not end.
It changes form-and continues to live on.
That is the truth I wanted to share,
and why I wrote this story.
With just one suitcase,
I left Japan and traveled through
New York, a small island in Canada, villages in India,
Turkey, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Greece, Albania,
the UK, Gibraltar, Croatia, Montenegro…
As I journeyed across the world,
I slowly healed my heart
and rediscovered myself.
Living as a digital nomad-
working from anywhere with just a laptop-
I came to understand the deeper meaning of:
Through encounters and farewells,
nature, and subtle spiritual guidance,
this book explores:
Toward the end of the story,
the author makes one clear decision:
to live by honoring herself.
By choosing that way of being,
she meets her life partner, gets married,
and now travels through life together.
It was not an easy path.
There were moments of distance and trials of trust.
Still, she continued to choose love.
That encounter, too,
felt as if it were gently guided
by her beloved dog, Opti.
From Opti, she learned
the love of simply being-
that even without words or actions,
just existing is enough to be loved.
From life, she learned
the love of choosing-
choosing love again and again.
Those two kinds of love
eventually became one.
This book is for:
It’s okay to cry.
It’s okay to feel lost.
Even so,
life is quietly and gently guiding you.
Like the “110” signs Opti left behind-
Love does not end.
It is always with you.
