Smart Privacy Film is an advanced PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) technology that transforms existing glass into switchable privacy glass. When powered on, the glass becomes transparent. When powered off, the glass changes to a frosted state, providing privacy while still allowing light transmission.
What Is Included
Depending on the scope stated in this quotation, the Smart Privacy Film System may include:• Smart Privacy Film application onto existing glass
• Transformer / power supply unit
• Controller and switching system
• Basic wiring and connection to designated power source
• Testing and commissioning
How the System Works
The system consists of three key components:
- Smart Privacy Film applied onto glass
- Power supply / transformer
- Controller (switch, remote control or other selected control method)
The film changes state when electrical power is supplied to the system.
Important Information
Existing Glass Condition
Smart Privacy Film is applied directly onto existing glass surfaces.Final appearance and performance may be affected by:
• Existing scratches or defects in glass
• Uneven glass surfaces
• Existing tint films or coatings
• Structural limitations of the existing glass installation
Visual Characteristics
As with all PDLC Smart Film systems:• Frosted mode provides privacy but is not a complete blackout solution.
• Slight haze may be visible when the film is in transparent mode.
• Minor edge visibility, busbar lines or electrical connection points may remain visible.
• Appearance may vary under different lighting conditions and viewing angles.These characteristics are normal and do not constitute defects.
Electrical Requirements
The Smart Privacy Film System requires a continuous power supply when operating in transparent mode.The client shall provide:
• Suitable power source
• Access to electrical points where required
• Necessary approvals from building management where applicableAdditional electrical works not specified in this quotation are excluded.
Maintenance
To prolong the life of the system:• Clean only with soft cloth and non-abrasive cleaners
• Avoid sharp objects or impact on film surface
• Do not tamper with wiring, controllers or transformersDetailed care instructions will be provided upon project completion.
Warranty
Warranty coverage (if applicable) is stated separately in the quotation and Terms & Conditions.Warranty applies to manufacturing defects and workmanship only and excludes misuse, physical damage, vandalism, unauthorised modifications, electrical issues beyond our installation scope, and normal wear and tear.
Site Assessment
This quotation is based on information available at the time of submission.Should actual site conditions differ from those assessed, Forest3 Design reserves the right to revise the scope, methodology and pricing accordingly.
