A Quiet Centre Within a Field of Light
Lighthouse 6 creates a spacious field of pale yellow and blue, within which a softly defined square of Chinese ink appears near the centre.
The central form is not a rigid geometric shape. Its edges remain permeable and atmospheric, allowing the ink to gradually dissolve into the surrounding colour. The effect creates a quiet visual centre — a place where the eye can pause and attention can settle.
Through a contemporary ink painting approach, TK Chan uses water to alter the density and movement of Chinese ink. Rather than relying on a strong black mark, the ink develops through subtle tonal gradations and fluid transitions.
The surrounding yellow brings warmth and luminosity, while the blue introduces spaciousness and calm. The central ink form provides a gentle counterpoint, creating an inward movement within the larger field.
Lighthouse 6 therefore explores another kind of energy within the Lighthouse Collection. It is not the powerful persistence represented by the strong Chinese black ink of the later Lighthouse works. Instead, it suggests the strength of gentleness — the quiet ability to remain present, receptive and connected.
The work also contributes to the broader idea of Confluence, where different artistic energies can meet without losing their individual character. Here, colour, ink, water, structure and spontaneity coexist within one field.

About the Artists
Albert Chung (b. 1971, Hong Kong) is an artist whose practice explores the intersection of light, energy, and abstract expression. He is currently the Artist in Residence for the We Are Creators 2026 programme at The Wilson Art Gallery & Museum in Cheltenham, United Kingdom.
TK Chan (b. 1984, Hong Kong) is a highly acclaimed mixed-media artist known for her unique fusion of Western and Chinese artistic traditions. She holds a Master of Design (MDes) from Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland and a second Master's degree in Art History and Curation from Hong Kong. Her work has been exhibited extensively across Hong Kong, Mainland China, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the United Kingdom, and is held in private and corporate collections worldwide. Shipping will be arranged within 14 days upon receipt of full payment. Unless otherwise specified, we typically engage the services of Post Office, UPS, FedEx, or DHL for delivery.
Packaging Method
The packaging method depends on the framing status of the artwork:
- With existing frame: The artwork will be securely packed in its frame, carefully wrapped with bubble wrap, and placed in a carton box for safe transit. This method provides adequate protection while keeping costs reasonable.
- Without frame (unframed): The artwork will be carefully rolled and protected with archival-grade materials, then placed in a shipping tube to prevent creasing or damage during transit.
For buyers requiring additional protection—such as custom wooden crating or reinforced packaging—please discuss this with us prior to purchase. Such specialized packing can be arranged upon request, though additional costs will apply. We will be happy to provide a quote based on your specific requirements.
Insurance

- Display away from direct sunlight and moisture to prevent fading, discolouration, or damage to the ink and paper.
Framing Recommendations
For optimal protection, we advise professional framing with the following considerations:
- UV-Filtering Glazing: Use ultraviolet-filtering glass or acrylic. 99.9% anti-UV options are available on the market to protect against light damage.
- Acid-Free Mounting: Use acid-free mount board to prevent yellowing and deterioration of the paper over time.
- Moisture Barrier: Add a moisture barrier at the back of the frame—for example, a sheet of specialist aluminium foil placed between the backboard and the mount—to protect against humidity.
- Sealed Backing: Apply water-resistant frame backing tape to seal the back of the frame, providing an additional layer of protection against dust and moisture.
- Air Circulation: Attach cork bumpers to the lower corners of the back of the frame using PVA adhesive. This creates an air gap between the frame and the wall, allowing airflow behind the frame and preventing mould spores from settling.
