I work primarily in acrilyc  and mixed media on canvas, building layered, textured surfaces that serve as a stage for figurative encounters.

My practice examines grief, devotion, and the porous boundary between bodily loss and spiritual presence. Across the work I present moments of intense contact—figures holding and held, faces upturned or surrendered—so the viewer meets mourning as a lived, physical condition rather than an abstract idea. I draw on the drama of Baroque chiaroscuro and the iconographic language of devotional painting, reinterpreted through contemporary concerns about trauma, witness, and care. These sources inform the mood and structure of the pieces without prescribing a single meaning; the work conveys emotion directly and insists on an attentive encounter.

Technically, I begin with textured grounds—gesso, modeling paste, and metallic washes—that I score, sand, and glaze to create depth and sedimented surface. I work with a restrained palette of earth tones and muted flesh colors, using glazing, scraping, and deliberate brushwork to articulate muscle, bone, and the weight of garments. Light is a primary agent: concentrated highlights and deep shadows shape bodies, indicate touch, and set the tenor of each composition. Figurative form is distilled rather than decorative; gestures and expression carry the narrative.

The corpus functions as a sequence of meditations on sacrifice, fidelity, and the ways we carry one another through loss. I intend these paintings to offer unflinching presence—visual acts that reveal vulnerability, call for recognition, and make room for the complexity of mourning.
