Why this challenge feels different

This is not a rigid academic drill, and it is not about proving you’re “enough.” It is a gentle homecoming led by Jennifer Davos — built on safety before performance, agency before expectations, and connection before correction.

What we’ll work through together

🌱

Identity before Performance

Learn how diaspora identity layers shape your relationship with language, and soften the painful “not enough” story. • Recognise that your relationship with your heritage language has been shaped by complex systems — not a lack of ability or effort • Begin to release the belief that not speaking your heritage language makes you "less authentic" or "not enough" • Understand how shame, perfectionism, and fear of judgement can interfere with language learning • Develop greater compassion for your younger version self who was navigating multiple worlds • Define belonging on your own terms rather than through external approval or linguistic perfection • Recognise that reclaiming your heritage language is not about becoming someone else — it is about being yourself.

🫶

Belonging before Correction

Explore family wounds, silence, and criticism with tenderness—so language becomes a bridge, not a test. • Reconnect with your heritage language from a place of dignity rather than shame • Speak your first meaningful identity phrases with clarity and confidence • Understand how to begin learning without overwhelm or perfectionism • Develop a simple personal practice to continue beyond the 5 days • Experience your heritage language as a living part of who you are — not something “lost” or out of reach

🛡️

Dignity before Pressure

Practice calm, culturally rooted responses and micro-choices that help you stay grounded in real conversations. • You grew up hearing your heritage language but were never fully taught • You feel embarrassment, distance, or grief about not speaking it • You want to reconnect but feel intimidated by traditional classes • You long to speak with family members in a more meaningful way • You want a gentle, culturally-rooted re-entry rather than academic study • You are ready to approach language learning with emotional honesty and curiosity

Your 5-day reclamation path

Day 1: Foundations of Identity & The Inner Landscape

Day 1: Foundations of Identity & The Inner Landscape

We begin with the part of you that has been carrying the weight of comparison. You’ll gently reframe the “not enough” narrative and practice foundational greetings that meet your nervous system with ease.

Day 2: The Family Mirror & The Language of Belonging

Day 2: The Family Mirror & The Language of Belonging

We name the generational language wounds that can live inside silence, correction, or criticism. Then we move toward kinship terms and language that helps you feel more connected, not more judged.

Day 3: Dignity-Centered Responses & Cultural Pragmatics

Day 3: Dignity-Centered Responses & Cultural Pragmatics

You’ll learn the Mirror, Neutralizer, and Redirect tools for responding to elders and community questions with warmth, clarity, and self-respect—without freezing or over-explaining.
