"Phi Phi" - Thailand's most famous and prohibited beach (Fine Art Framed Print, limited edition)

Escape and intrigue captured from above. Thailand's celebrity. Koh Phi Phi Leh used to be remote coastline of untouched water. An island surrounded by rings of sedimentary rock that create a large bay: Maya. This was the cinematographic scenery where Leonardo Di Caprio's movie "The Beach" was filmed and where many ecosystems were destroyed because of its production. Virgin until 2000 and whipped by an enormous tsunami in 2004, Phi Phi Islands are an extremely tourist focal point for Thai boats but controversial as claimed to be "protected". What I saw for sure was that almost everything is now prohibited in the island. No swimming, no sitting at the beach, no drones allowed (sorry not sorry), not wearing revealing clothes or not even bicycles allowed. The vivid turquoise waters, sculpted cliffs and soft white shoreline still remain surviving human pace. A unique story behind the picture.
